You will find that most of them reference the heretical works of Gnostic, modernist and postmodern scholars who deny the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith. Many of these scholars are rabidly anti-Christian and their works, which MacArthur recommends as authoritative, are filled with slander and blasphemy of the Lord Jesus Christ.

For example, John MacArthur favorably references Dale B. Martin’s book, Slavery as Salvation, on page 38 because it likens the Christian life to the abusive institution of slavery in the Roman Empire. Dale B. Martin is Professor of Religious Studies at Yale University, an admitted homosexual and author of a blasphemous book titled Sex and the Single Savior which portrays Jesus as a homosexual. John MacArthur never discloses Prof. Martin’s true identity in Slave.

Another scholar whose translation of Gnostic writings is recommended by MacArthur is Bart D. Ehrman, Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prof. Ehrman is a New Testament critic who claims that he was an evangelical Christian until he discovered “errors” in the Bible. Dr. Ehrman now writes books which debunk the New Testament and advocate for Gnostic forgeries such as the Gospel of Thomas and the Lost Gospel of Judas Iscariot to replace the New Testament canon.

Slave is a best-seller among young Christians who are led to believe that the sources referenced therein are Christian books, or at least neutral historical sources. Theological heretics Dale Martin and Bart Ehrman are only two of many academics of the “Jesus Seminar” variety whose scholarship is recommended without an honest identification or disclaimer to warn the reader. By concealing the identity and agenda of his sources, John MacArthur is deceptively promoting Gnostic books and the Gnostic heresy to many young Christians who are not yet established in the faith.

For documentation and detailed information on the heretical sources in Slave, see the following review:

http://watch-unto-prayer.or...

Re: Jesus’ Writing in the Sand

Thank you, when you add not just Jn 7 setting the stage Jn. 1:1-3,14 would perhaps prove out the saying " A picture is worth a thousard words"

Re: Review: Slave by John MacArthur

May I suggest you research the endnotes in SLAVE? They are
important because nearly all of these references lead to heretical works of modernist and postmodern scholars who deny the fundamental doctrines of the Christian faith. Some of these “scholars” are in fact rabidly anti-Christian, and their works, which Macarthur recommends as authoritative, are filled with slander and blasphemy of the Lord Jesus Christ. One homosexual scholar cited by Macarthur wrote a blasphemous book which attempts to prove that Jesus was a homosexual. (Sex and the Single Savior) Other liberal scholars quoted by Macarthur claim that Christians in the early Church, including the Apostles, not only condoned the institution of slavery but were abusive and immoral slave owners and slave traders just like Roman slave owners/traders. For documentation, read this critical review:

“PAGANIZING” THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH: PART 2 - JOHN MACARTHUR’S “SLAVE” BOOK

http://watch-unto-prayer.or...

Re: When to Call Out a False Teacher By Name

Hi Mooney,

My name is Adam J. Read. I know this post is a bit older, but maybe you'll see this in a notification or something.

I've been chatting with an older gentleman on one of your pages (http://christianwriterscorn..., and I was wondering if you'd like to engage in a conversation.

What I find rather dull about the Bible these days is that the men who wrote it seem to have a hyperfocus on themselves and on their own culture. The issue has nothing to do with pointing fingers at "false teachers." It has to do with having an incredibly limited set of topics.

These men don't even like to be married, it seems, as the only stories on romance are by an arch-polygamist named Solomon. Why don't the children of God have a mother and why does the church seem like a jilted bride? Jesus has left her waiting at the altar for two thousand years...not exactly the best role model.

What do you think about the idea of a religious fiction/fantasy book that tells the story of God's missing wife? Her name would be something like Jehovah Rechem, Hebrew for "God of the Womb." That would bring a much more intriguing set of stories into church.

Drop me a note if you'd like.

Take care,

Adam J. They give the invitations to accept Christ and His Word.

Prov 6:16&19: There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:...a man who stirs up dissension among brothers"

One should be very careful in stirring up dissention amongst God's workers.

Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18 declare that "The Sprit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because He has anointed me to preach good news to the poor." NIV

This does not limit it to just poor in spirit but goes on to include that, therefore the initial 'poor' means just that: poor. God does NOT want people to be poor OR poor in spirit.

Abraham was rich, Job was rich in cattle and lands.

"He who welcomes a prophet in the name of a prophet receives a prophet's reward." Personally, I welcome these very excellent preachers of God's Word!

Re: My friend, I stand in judgment now, and feel that you’re to blame somehow . . .

Christ is our example and He came to this earth to seek that which was lost...and He left us with the great commission to go to the whole world with the gospel. I don't think He put condemnation on us when we fail to witness because He took us out from under condemnation . But its my knowledge of what He did for me that motivates me to want to tell others. I do know seeking wisdom on how and when to witness is important but people are dying and going to hell all around us. II Cor. 5:14-16...I am no longer to live unto myself.
It's a convicting poem, not one that makes me feel condemned but convicted to live my life more like Christ. The lost have to hear to believe the gospel and we are God's mouthpiece. Thoughts from a simple thankful women for the ones I heard the gospel from. It is the power unto salvation.

Re: Jesus’ Writing in the Sand

I believe through my study that just as when the devil tempted JESUS, JESUS used the word of GOD to turn HIM away and also that HE did here when HE wrote in the sand. I come to believe that the first time HE stooped down HE wrote Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Then HE stood up and said, " He without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." Then HE stooped back down and began to write the names of the accusers from the oldest to the youngest and by this they knew HE was from GOD for how could he have known all their names. Just what I have learned and believe to be true from my studies.

Re: Jesus’ Writing in the Sand

A famous preacher from the 40s Gospel Tent Meeting era surmised that Jesus may have written "where is the man who sinned with her."

Re: Emancipated, But Are You Free?

fb test

Re: Emancipated, But Are You Free?

WOW chris ,what a great word from the Lord, you are right we all need to at ourselves and ask the question where do we stand in our freedom who are we serving we cant have two masters we will serve one and hate the other hmmmmm.as for me i serve God with the big G,Father give me the grace to walk in Your statues

Re: When to Call Out a False Teacher By Name

A couple thoughts...

The Word of God (our blueprint) tells us to test all spirits (1 John 4:1)...also I thought the following passage of scripture is (huge) -

1 Timothy 4

King James Version (KJV)

4 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:

5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

I'd like to point out verse 6 - (IF YOU PUT THE BRETHREN IN REMEMBRANCE OF THESE THINGS YOU SHALL BE A (GOOD MINISTER) OF JESUS CHRIST.

Satan's (modus operandi) is deception...think of it this way...let's take "Rat Poison"...it must taste good or a rat wouldn't eat it yet it has enough poison in it to kill the rat...the rat is eating it not knowing it is killing him.

So goes false doctrine that is against the (blueprint, the Word of God), there is enough good doctrine to keep people feeding of it yet it has enough poison in it to kill you spiritually and unless all doctrine is tested, a Christian is being killed spiritually and has no idea the doctrine they are taking in is killing them...

Sow a seed (money)...THAT IS A LIE!...the Word of God is the seed that parable is talking about!

Re: When to Call Out a False Teacher By Name

For some reason, the comments from facebook are not posting here. If you would like to read those you can find them at http://tinyurl.com/blo5dne

Here is my reply to those comments:

Ugh. I hit enter out of habit. Anyhow, this video really got me into studying what our responsibility is as Christians when we find someone teaching contrary to the Bible (part of why it took me awhile to reply to your comments). I was surprised at what I found. To keep this from being an entire new blog post, I will just put a thought and some Bible references that correspond.

Mostly I found that we are to watch for them, and once identified, confront/expose/rebuke them (Matthew 18, Ephesians 5:11, 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15, Titus 1:13). Also, we are to pretty much have nothing to do with them. (Matthew 15:14, Romans 16:17-18, 2 Thessalonians 3:14-15,2 John 10-11).

I don't think it is wrong for a preacher to be called out on what he/she is teaching, but to do so publicly is likely a last resort, and only to be done with compassion in a way that they will actually listen and not tune you out. There are plenty of times in the Bible when people were called out by name: Peter (Gal. 2:11-14), Demas (II Tim. 4:10), Hymenaeus and Alexander (I Tim. 1: 18-20), Hymenaeus (again) and Philetus (II Tim. 2:15-18), Alexander the coppersmith (II Tim. 4:14-15).

It comes down to motive. Why are you calling someone on their doctrine? To help deliver them from a lie? Or just so you can be right and get a pat on the back, maybe your fifteen minutes of fame. I don't know they why for this song. I hope that Shai Linne wrote it with a heart that was broken for the individuals he accused in this song. I hope that he also prayed and studied to make sure he wasn't the one in error.

Re: When to Call Out a False Teacher By Name

Well I doubt that they are His anointed from what they preach about prosperity. They have shifted the focus off of Jesus and onto "self". Oh yeah, throw Jesus' name around and quote a few scriptures and it must be right. By grace alone we are saved through faith alone in Christ alone. Poverty or sickness or whatever does not make us any less saved or less of a believer. And it definitely does not mean that there is not enough faith in a person. Our treasures and joy are not of this world. Those prosperity teachings are false and self-centered and its hard to believe that people fall for it. Because we are children of God we must be wealthy, we must be healthy, we must have what we claim for....and "it is our right"..?? - com'on!! This teachings have chipped away at people's faith on what he has ALREADY DONE for me and shifted to what he CAN DO for me. What else do we want? To be clothed in wealth after already being redeemed by the blood of Christ?

I hope you've read yours too.

Re: When to Call Out a False Teacher By Name

I hope this guy has read HIS Bible, I am certain that the Bible tells us not to touch the Lord's anointed. 1 Chronicles 16:22 and Psalms 105:15 Both state the SAME thing ...... I hope as you pointed out he went to them first before he publicly bashed them.... So sad to me as some on this list are not primarily prosperity teachers and their messages are not to hinder the body.
